Courmayeur Double Vertical Kilometer
While the trail itself may not be the most beautiful one around, its novelty cannot be beaten. It’s a classic test piece that allows you to run straight from the valley floor to the high alps with no detours! It’s also historically significant: in 1944, the Germans ascended this slope on their way to the Battle of the Vallée Blanche against French Resistance fighters. Keep in mind that it will be much colder at the top than at the bottom: Bring ample layers.
