Welcome to the 2025 edition of the Run the Alps film festival, brought to you in partnership with On and Tailwind.
Our festival is a celebration of trail running in the Alps, showcasing inspiring stories, breathtaking landscapes and the deep connection between runners and their surroundings.
Since our pilot festival in 2022, we’ve grown to support emerging filmmakers through yearly grants, while also sharing classic Alps films featuring some of trail running’s most well-known athletes.
In line with our mission of creating an inclusive trail running community, our festival is available to watch free of charge, for everyone.
Ready to kick back and go for a big trail running tour of the Alps? Great!
Grab a croissant, pour yourself a cafe au lait, kick back and enjoy.

My name is Frank, I’m a cocker spaniel from Manchester. This story started when I moved in with Maleek, my human. He wasn’t in a great place, he’d finished his final 4 year sentence and walked right out of one prison into another type of prison; covid lockdown and a debilitating depression. I gave him no choice – he had to start walking me. One walk led to another, and another, and then we were running. (Photo: Jake McKenna)

Miles of Mind is an intimate journey through the emotions and sensations of running. Delving into the deeper side of why we run in the mountains, this short creates an almost psychedelic experience capturing the spirit of mountain running.

In spring 2024, 100 young people aged 16-23 growing up in cities in the UK, were selected for Year 2 of the Alpine Run Project. 20 of them would go on to compete in the world’s most iconic trail race in the Mont Blanc range in the French Alps, later in the summer.

Trofeo Kima is a race that’s not on the trail. It’s in the mountains, as Black Diamond athlete Hillary Gerardi puts it. “Anyone who knows Kima, reveres it,” she adds. And few know it as well as Hillary. Follow this beautiful journey through the peaks and valleys of Trofeo Kima to see Hillary attempt the course record.

When I finish a long trail run I’m always shocked about the difference between my elapsed time versus my moving time and always wonder what I spent that extra time doing. I used to think it was wasted time and now I know it’s also part of the adventure. This film is a portrait of a real day out, not just that memorable, perfect singletrack on the ridge that we all love.
A huge thank you to our panelists and Film Festival Manager for giving their time to select year’s grant applications and for finding such a wonderful collection of films.
